Jing-gang Mountain, Jiangxi Province.
Firmly rolled and curly as hooks, this green tea produces a clear-green brew.
Emerald Green tea was originated from Shi-ji village of Jinggang Mountain. According to local folklore, long ago when a roaming angel passed by the small village, farmers welcomed her with tea. Moved by their hospitality, she decided to stay. She learned tea from the farmers and the tea grown by her was particularly palatable and sold very well. Life in the village improved ever since and the village was named after her. The green tea was resumed in 1988.
Consisting of more than 500 mountains, Jinggang Mountain has the biggest and most well-preserved sub-primitive forest of the same latitude in the world. Its cooler climate and rich water sources give the green tea the fine quality.
This tea is made from a local broad-leaf species. The standard picking is one shoot with one or two newly unfurled leaves. Among its six steps, roasting is the key procedure that gives it distinctive shape.
Situated in the mountains northeast of Jiangxi Province, Wu-yuan County is praised the most picturesque countryside in China for its forest, caves, and ancient architecture. Its humus soil, all the year around lingering mist, average 16.7 C temperature, and 2,000 mm annual rainfall provide favorable environment for tea.
